Help when you need it

FreeSpace Support

For help or a bug report, email amma.software.llc@gmail.com. Include the FreeSpace version, Chrome version, what you expected, what happened, and the smallest set of steps that reproduces the issue. Do not send workspace passwords or sensitive exported backups.

FreeSpace has no account system. Support will never ask for your Chrome password, Google password, workspace password, full payment details, reviewer code, or remote access to your computer. Never email an activation token or an exported workspace backup.

Quick help

How do I replay the tutorial?

Open the full dashboard, choose Settings, then select the option to replay the spotlight guide.

What happens when I switch to an empty workspace?

FreeSpace opens one Chrome New Tab. Chrome windows cannot remain open with zero tabs.

How do I send several open tabs to a workspace?

In the side panel, open Open tabs, select up to 200 web or local-file tabs across your Chrome windows, and choose a destination that is both unlocked and closed—not currently bound to an open Chrome window. Save copies saves them while leaving the source tabs open. Move & close saves first and closes only newly saved tabs after the workspace update is safely persisted. FreeSpace rechecks each tab's exact URL and window before saving: duplicates and changed tabs stay open, and tabs that already closed are skipped. If closing the newly saved tabs would empty a source window, FreeSpace opens one New Tab first.

Can I undo a workspace deletion?

Yes. Deleting one or several workspaces moves them into checksum-sealed local Workspace Trash. Use the 10-second Undo action, or open Recovery and restore an intact deletion for up to 30 days. Trash keeps at most the 50 most recent deletion operations and never goes to Chrome Sync or a portable export. A protected workspace stays encrypted and restores locked. Trash restoration remains available after productive subscription access ends. To remove data immediately, choose Delete forever for one Trash item or Empty Trash and confirm the permanent purge.

Can I move FreeSpace to another computer?

Yes. In Settings, choose Export full backup on the first computer. On the other computer, install FreeSpace and import that JSON file. A settings-only export intentionally contains no workspaces or browsing data. Backups move your active local workspace library; Workspace Trash and subscription secrets are never included.

How do I use my subscription in another Chrome profile?

While the first profile still has access, open Plan, choose Devices & recovery, and create a recovery code. Save it privately. On the new profile, choose Recover subscription and enter that code. Recovery rotates the code, so save the newly displayed replacement. One subscription supports up to three active Chrome profiles.

What if I lose the subscription recovery code?

FreeSpace cannot reveal or reset it because only a one-way hash is stored. If any entitled profile remains available, create a replacement code there. Never email the code or an activation token to support.

Can a forgotten workspace password be recovered?

No. The password is never stored, so FreeSpace cannot reset it or decrypt the workspace without it. Keep a separate secure backup of anything irreplaceable.

Does locking a workspace hide tabs already open in Chrome?

No. The lock encrypts the saved workspace record. Tabs already open in Chrome remain visible until you close or switch them.

Is Chrome Sync required?

No. Sync is optional and off by default. Portable JSON export/import works without Chrome Sync. Workspace Trash remains only on the current device and is excluded from both methods.

What does the subscription cost?

Where checkout is enabled, an eligible installation gets the complete extension for 30 days. After that, the base price is $1.99 USD per month through PayPal until canceled. Before FreeSpace creates a PayPal subscription, a 15-minute quote shows the selected region, trial or restart status, base price, tax display mode, exact tax, recurring total, amount due now, and disclosure for acceptance. Checkout is available to United States residents only.

What is Review access?

Review access is a temporary, non-billing entitlement issued only to authorized Chrome Web Store reviewers through Google's confidential reviewer notes. It expires no later than 14 days after issuance and is not a public trial, promotion, or bypass. Ordinary users start the 30-day PayPal trial instead. After Review access expires, productive features pause, but local read, unlock, export, delete, and Workspace Trash restoration capabilities remain available.

How do I refresh access after approving PayPal?

Return to FreeSpace, open Plan, and choose Refresh access. Approval can take a brief moment to reach the entitlement service.

What can I do if my trial or subscription ends?

Productive actions such as capture, switch, workspace-snapshot restore, edit, import, and sync push pause. You can still view every workspace, unlock protected spaces, export backups or readable workspace files, delete your data, and restore intact workspace deletions from local Trash.

How do I cancel?

Open Plan in FreeSpace and choose Cancel renewal. Review the confirmation and submit it; FreeSpace asks PayPal to stop future renewal and verifies the result. PayPal's automatic-payment controls remain available as a fallback. Read the pricing details and refund policy.

How do I know cancellation worked?

Plan must show Renewal is cancelled, or PayPal must show the automatic payment as canceled. If the request was interrupted or the result is unclear, choose Refresh access before retrying. Verified cancellation normally preserves productive access through the trial or paid-through end; read, unlock, export, and delete remain after entitlement ends.

Can I subscribe again after access ends?

Sometimes. After terminal access, the same installation may show Subscribe again — $1.99/month. It does not include another trial. FreeSpace shows that action only after the service confirms eligibility and verifies the separate no-trial PayPal plan. If the action is absent, refresh access; FreeSpace does not start an unverified fallback plan.

Is the trial limited to one per person?

FreeSpace does not identify people for trial eligibility. The service evaluates the opaque installation record that starts checkout, so the product does not claim one trial per person.

Is paid checkout available everywhere?

No. Paid availability is limited to regions enabled after qualified tax and payment review. Installing FreeSpace or seeing the public pricing page does not guarantee checkout in a particular location. Unsupported, unavailable, ambiguous, changed, or unaccepted region decisions stop before FreeSpace asks PayPal to create a subscription. Expiry blocks every new provider create or reseed; it permits only reconciliation of the exact original result if a create was already attempted, never another mutation. PayPal processes payment; it does not determine FreeSpace's tax treatment.

Does removing a Chrome profile cancel PayPal?

No. Revoking a profile only stops new access leases for that installation. It does not cancel PayPal billing. Use Plan → Cancel renewal before revoking the profile, or use PayPal's automatic-payment controls to stop future charges.

Before reporting a problem

  1. Confirm Chrome is version 114 or newer.
  2. Open chrome://extensions, find FreeSpace, and check whether Chrome reports an extension error.
  3. Export a backup if the dashboard is accessible.
  4. Restart Chrome and retry the smallest failing action.
