Package-verified OneTab 2.18 text migration

Import OneTab tabs into a local FreeSpace workspace.

Save or copy your OneTab URL list, preview exactly what FreeSpace accepts, and create a new workspace without sending the file, URLs, or titles to a FreeSpace server.

Plan disclosure: In a qualified supported region, import is available during an eligible PayPal-approved 30-day trial and the $1.99 USD/month base-price subscription that follows until canceled. FreeSpace shows the selected region, exact seller-collected tax, recurring total, and due-now amount for acceptance before it creates a PayPal subscription. Checkout is available to United States residents only. Existing local data remains readable, unlockable, exportable, and deletable if entitlement ends.

Accepted text shape

One line per tab. Title optional.

FreeSpace accepts the OneTab 2.18 package's URL | title line shape and plain URL-only lines in the same text file.

Three steps

Export, preview, then create.

    Copy the OneTab Import/Export list.

    Put the exported URL lines in a UTF-8 text file. FreeSpace never needs access to OneTab's internal storage.

    Choose Import tab list.

    Open FreeSpace Settings, find Move from another tab manager, and choose the text file.

    Check the preview.

    Edit the workspace name and review accepted, duplicate, unsupported, and truncated counts plus a sample of accepted tabs before FreeSpace creates anything.

What is preserved

Useful titles, routes, and order.

  • Valid HTTP, HTTPS, and local file URLs.
  • The title after | , or a useful title derived from the URL.
  • Input order after invalid and duplicate records are removed.
  • Application route hashes beginning with #/ or #!/.

Common tracking parameters are removed before normalized URLs are deduplicated.

Not reconstructed

OneTab section boundaries, without invented names.

When an exact OneTab text file contains at least one URL | title line and two or more importable blank-line sections, FreeSpace keeps those boundaries as deterministic groups named OneTab section 1, OneTab section 2, and so on inside one workspace. A plain URL-only list remains ungrouped because it is indistinguishable from ordinary text.

Folder names, original group names, starred state, locked groups, timestamps, sharing state, and other proprietary OneTab metadata are not present in this text export and are not reconstructed.

Safety limits

Bounded local parsing.

  • Maximum file size: 4 MB. Maximum imported tabs: 5,000.
  • Credential-bearing, executable, control-character, and overlong URLs are skipped.
  • The preview reports every accepted, duplicate, skipped, or truncated record.
Local-first by design

Your OneTab export stays in the extension.

Parsing and workspace creation happen locally in Chrome. FreeSpace's entitlement service does not receive the import file, tab URLs, titles, or resulting workspace name.

If the user already enabled optional Chrome Sync, the newly created workspace may be included in the next compressed Chrome Sync backup.
